Michelle successfully supports and leads a team of volunteers at one of the biggest festivals in the North East salsa calendar. The Teeside Festival UK. Dance is the essence of who we are visually, dance is our emotions …to motion. The desire to dance is inside of you… Dance enables you to lose yourself and find yourself all at the same time.
Isabelle Johnson – Teacher Isabelle (or Izzie, as she is better known) dabbled in many dance styles during her early years, with particular focus on contemporary and jazz. After taking a break from her hobby during her college years, it was only when at University that she rediscovered her love of dancing but, this time, of a completely different style: Street dance. Throughout the last two years of University Izzie mastered this style and came to perform in multiple regional showcases with the Instep Durham Dance team, performing both Street dance and, less frequently, hip-hop. When she relocated to Newcastle in 2014 she was quick to investigate the local dance scene and this time, influenced by a previous trip to South America, developed a second passion for Latin dance. From regular classes and through attending several national Congresses she has been learning salsa, bachata, kizomba and reggaeton for over one year and has since come to work alongside Yersin Rivas and the Salsafro Team at the Salsafro Dance School. Above all, Izzie values the feeling of self-empowerment that can be achieved by dancing. From her background in Street she loves to sew individuality into her style of dancing and believes that any person, no matter their background, can find self-expression through the medium of dance.
